GUE Courses

Here at Tech Dive NZ, we offer a range of GUE dive courses, either in-house or through the use of affiliate instructors. GUE, or Global Underwater Explorers, is a scuba diving organization that provides diving education within recreational, cave and technical diving. The GUE courses we offer are:


GUE Fundamentals - Part 1

The GUE Fundamentals course is designed to cultivate the essential techniques required for sound diving practices. GUE Fundamentals is a pre-requisite for all GUE cave and technical diving courses.

Pre-requisites: Open Water
Duration: 2 days
No. of dives: 2 open water dives

Qualification limits: 30m, no decompression
Cost: $400 excl. gear, $450 incl. gear

GUE Fundamentals - Part 2

The GUE Fundamentals course is designed to cultivate the essential techniques required for sound diving practices. GUE Fundamentals is a pre-requisite for all GUE cave and technical diving courses.

GUE Recreational Diver: Level 1

The primary purpose of GUE Recreational Diver 1 is to teach non-divers to master the art and science of sport diving through cultivating essential diving techniques and sound diving practices from the very beginning.

Pre-requisites: None
Duration: 5 days
No. of dives: 14 dives, mixture of pool and open water

Qualification limits: 21m, no decompression, EANx32.
Cost: $1,750 for 1-on-1; $1,000pp if more than 1 student

GUE Recreational Diver: Level 2

The primary purpose of GUE Recreational Diver 2 is to prepare divers for deeper recreational diving. The course covers accident management and rescue scenarios, ascent training, decompression theory and the safe use of Triox 30/30.

Pre-requisites: GUE Fundamentals "rec" pass or GUE Rec 1
Duration: 5 days
No. of dives: 8 dives, plus surface rescue scenarios

Qualification limits: 30m, no decompression, EANx32 or Trimix 30/30.
Cost: $1,000 + expenses

GUE Recreational Diver: Level 3

The GUE Recreational Diver level 3 course is a mastery-level recreational class structured to prepare divers for deeper recreational diving using proper equipment, diving techniques and breathing mixtures. In this class, students will be introduced to the theory and practice of limited decompression, the use of trimix as a breathing gas and trained in correct ascent procedures.

Pre-requisites: GUE Fundamentals (Tech Pass)
Duration: 4 days
No. of dives: 8 open water dives

Qualification limits: Trimix 30/30 or trimix 21/35
Cost: $1,200 + expenses

GUE Diver Propulsion Vehicle: Level 1

The GUE DPV Diver level 1 course provides an introduction to the safe and efficient use of scooters as an aid to extending your range, time and diving opportunities. As well as providing a thorough grounding in GUE techniques for scooter diving this class is also enormous fun and will open up a whole new world of dive sites beyond the ones you normally get to see.

Pre-requisites: GUE Fundamentals (Rec Pass), or GUE Rec 1
Duration: 3 days
No. of dives: 5 open water dives
Equipment required: Standard GUE equipment configuration, please contact us for details.
Qualification limits: 30m, no decompression, no overhead environments.
Cost: $600 or $700 incl. scooter

GUE Documentation Diver

The GUE Documentation Diver course provides an introduction to the broad range of skills required to successfully join GUE projects: project planning and management, u/w survey, photography and videography, project reporting.

Pre-requisites: GUE Fundamentals (Rec Pass), or GUE Rec 1
Duration: 4 days
No. of dives: 6 open water dives
Equipment required: Standard GUE equipment configuration, please contact us for details.
Qualification limits: 30m, no decompression, no overhead environments.

GUE Gas Blender

The GUE Gas Blender course is designed to introduce students to the essential skills required for blending diving gasses. Training includes the theory of gas blending as well as practical skills required for blending gas.

Pre-requisites: Non-smoker
Duration: 1 day
Equipment required: All the equipment required for this class will be provided by your instructor.
Qualification limits: Nitrox and trimix blending. No O2 servicing/cleaning.

GUE Technical Diver: Level 1

The Technical Diver Level 1 (Tech 1) course is structured to prepare divers for the rigors of technical diving and to familiarize them with the use of different breathing and decompression mixtures, including the use of trimix to minimise narcosis. Tech 1 training focuses on expanding the skills learned in the GUE Fundamentals course, and is designed to cultivate, integrate, and expand the essential skills required for safe technical diving.

Pre-requisites: GUE Fundamentals (Tech Pass)
Duration: 6 days
No. of dives: 10 open water dives
Equipment required: Standard GUE equipment configuration, please contact us for details.
Qualification limits: 51m; Maximum 30mins decompression; Trimix 30/30, 21/35, or 18/45; EANx50 or oxygen for accelerated deco.
Cost: $2,000 + expenses

GUE Doubles

This workshop is intended for people who want to discover the benefits of diving in twin tanks, acheive an understanding of equipment configuration and acquire basic competence in procedures for diving in a twin tanks. The workshop is conducted in a single day.

GUE Drysuit

Certainly not your usual drysuit class! The aim of this workshop is to develop a divers capability whilst diving in a drysuit and increase their ability to maintain control in the water.
